Chance Glassworks – Project Launch
24th November 2015
MADE’s new project – Chance Glass: Everybody’s Story will explore the heritage of the remarkable, groundbreaking glassworks who, from their base in Smethwick, created products that had an impact across the globe.
We are holding a launch event to celebrate the start of this project. This will be held at Brasshouse, not far from the seven storey building which still stands proudly on Spon Lane. The event will explain our plans for the project and how you can get involved.
Over next year our project will explore stories of Chance Brothers and the Glassworks through walks, talks, workshops and more before sharing the information gathered in a new website about the firm and its premises in Smethwick. You can find more detail about the project here.
As part of the project we are looking for the extraordinary tales of everyday lives at Chances Glass. We are looking for people who can share these with us, this is the first opportunity to tell us anything you may know, big or small. We want to hear all stories from the cleaner to the office junior so we can build a picture of the firm. The event
This event is for anyone with an interest in the project. Members of the local community and beyond, schools colleges, community groups, individuals. You do not need to have any connection with Chances (though if you do we would love to hear from you) all are welcome. There will be a series of short presentations and then an opportunity to have a chat over some warm refreshments.
